A14 Learning pathways

Students in my class are able to plot their own learning pathways that are personalised for themselves. I use a range of tools to enable this to happen.

SOLO rubrics are used extensively in our class, often students co-construct these. They are able to identify what they can do against a set of learning outcomes and can then identify their next learning steps.

Students are able to use checklists in class to demonstrate their use of skills, strategy or knowledge. They self-assess and then identify their needs for future learning. These checklists are sometimes displayed around the classroom walls, in student books, on Google docs or in modelling books.

I am able to communicate and share learning pathways that are also more general and provide student's with an overview of their learning. Below is a checklist of the writing progressions for students to achieve by the end of year 6. This is displayed in class so students can compare their writing to this and plot what they want to work towards next. I often see students discussing their learning when using this tool.

Students have identified their focus area for reading accuracy, they choose to attend workshops in class that focus on these areas.

SOLO self assessment rubric. The student has set a learning goal and I have also given them some feedback on their learning

Modelling book checklist, co-constructed by the group and myself. Students have used the checklist to evaluate their own learning and have been able to set their own learning pathway based on their needs.
