As outlined on Pam Hook's SOLO Taxonomy website (http://pamhook.com/solo-taxonomy) SOLO is used to:
- Plan for differentiation
- Give and receive feedback
- Develop self assessment resources
- Reflect on learning processes and products
- Undertake research and student led inquiry
- Integrate Learning and thinking strategies
- Establish a school wide common language for learning
Below is an example of my SOLO based concept planning.
Below is a SOLO rubric that my class and I developed to help improve their learning. This demonstrates that our use of SOLO is curriculum wide and the students are able to use it in a range of learning areas and contexts to learn.
Below is an example of a student self-assessed SOLO rubric used to reflect on their learning during a project. The students have highlighted what they feel they have achieved and then written a learning goal based on what they have not highlighted. I have also given them some written feedback to add to the scaffolding I offered throughout the project.
The SOLO rubric below relates to the Key competency of participating and contributing. The student has highlighted what they feel they have achieved and have then set goals based on the criteria that is not achieved yet.
