B14 Future focused teacher

I teach in through a future focused lens and I am constantly thinking about how I can challenge my students to learn through engaging contexts that make the most of the technology we have available.

I often leverage on the interests of students in my class by incorporating their interests into the learning programme. An example of this is a podcast that my class produced which linked to the literacy learning progressions. The students who produced this podcast were mad about sports and this really hooked them into the learning, it got them writing purposefully about something they clearly enjoyed.

Students used Google docs to collaborate and write their reports and then we used the Garageband app on an Ipad to produce the podcast. It was posted online so we could get feedback from a larger, authentic audience.
