B11 Manaakitnga - creating a welcoming and caring environment

I offer parents an open door policy in that they are invited into my classroom at any time. Below is an example of how parents have been welcomed into my classroom to engage with their children about their learning.

Parents and students discussed student learning at the Student Led Conferences.  I also use this time to develop positive relationships with whanau.

Students invite their whanau onto school to share their learning. 

Students lead the conversation about their learning with parents. 

By capturing the interactions of the whanau during student led conferences I am able to help foster positive relationships between school and home.
