C13 Improving as a teacher through student feedback

Through feedback from my students I am able to become a better teacher. I actively engage in seeking feedback from all of my students through conversations and the use of online survey tools. These ongoing communications help me reflect the student's needs and wants and enable me to refine how I plan and deliver learning opportunities. By offering different ways of communicating feedback with me I give all of my students a voice

Below is an example of a Maths survey I offered my class to get their feedback on the Maths programme.

Maths survey offered to students to proved me with feedback about my maths programme.

These responses helped me understand if I was challenging my students enough.
These responses helped me understand if I am equipping my students with the skills to get help when they need it.

These results then informed my practise by making me reflect about the way in which students are sharing their maths learning with parents at home.

So one strategy I implemented was to enable the students to use their blogs to create a snapshot of their learning to then share with their parents as a conversation starter.

Embedded spreadsheet on a student's blog.

Below is an example of Maths learning posted on a student's blog so they could then discuss it at home with their whanau.

Student learning made visible on their blog along with a short reflection.
