I demonstrate
Whakamana in many different ways, this example is where we have used a knowledge maths assessment to check what gaps students have. After the assessment has been marked my myself, I gave it back to the
students to analyse and discuss. They were then expected to choose at least two areas that they wanted to focus on.

After choosing their areas to focus their learning on they posted their goals online on their learning blog to make them visible. Students were then able to
attend workshops that I offered in class to focus on this goal with a small group of students who had similar goals.

| An example of how I plan to analyse the maths knowledge test then offer student driven workshops. |
This learning is
driven by the students because they analyse their own assessment and then choose
what is important to them for their goals. They are
empowered to improve and because the goals are attainable they know they can strive to achieve.
