B21 Diverse learning programmes that cater for all students needs and interests

In my class I am always aware of the need to cater for all student's learning needs and interests. I enable students to access learning in a way that is going to engage and excite them. Often the learning is driven by the student's passion. Below are a few examples of learning opportunities that students have driven.

I am especially aware of the need to incorporate the key competencies as outlined in the New Zealand curriculum. These are evident in all my teaching and planning so I am able to offer a balanced curriculum to my students.

The New Zealand Curriculum identifies five key competencies:

  • Thinking
  • Relating to others
  • Using language, symbols, and texts
  • Managing self
  • Participating and contributing
